Our Story

I wanted it out of my way until I needed it…

StealthRig was created because of a failed hunt during my time in the Marine Corps. I had the good fortune of serving as a Machine Gunner for 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines on the Island of Oahu. During my time, I watched videos of Cameron Hanes, John Dudley, Adam Greentree and many more of the greatest bowhunters in the world hunt Axis deer on Lanai. Toward the end of my contract, I managed to travel to this island and pay for a half day hunt on the best stalking grounds for bowhunters in the world. My guide, Alec, who had guided for all of the greats I listed before, dropped me off and parted only with, “stay low.” Despite Alec’s insight, I struggled to stalk within bow range of the 3000 Axis deer that inhabit Lanai. My sound was the largest contributing factor to my lack of success. As I belly crawled through the red volcanic soil, my bow would crunch on anything it touched, or I myself made noise in my efforts to conceal the bow’s irregular and unwieldy properties. Any variation of these sounds would summon an Axis bark to alert the herd of the danger. I tried to position the bow on my back to eliminate the problem all together, but soon found that this short term solution was literally falling on my head.

That’s when I first started formalizing this idea. Much like Zelda, from the old Atari video games, I wanted to attach my bow to my back, but with the ability to be reequip instantly. I wanted it out of my way until I needed it.

Not only was this incredibly effective, but I also discovered other benefits. The StealthRig allowed me to hunt longer because of how comfortable the bow was to carry. I felt secure and more balanced while I hunted, and I had a safer experience when climbing into trees. I started wrapping the StealthRig around my truck seat, which kept me from bringing a bow case. StealthRig has become a permanent tool in my archery bag, and is a fresh new way to enjoy archery. Where will SteathRig take you?
